EDWARD C. K. CHIN • My Perspective
Ed Chin has over 20 years of experience in hedge funds, securities trading, media management and business valuation. He is a certified Canadian Investment Manager (CIM), a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors (FHKIoD). Chin was a Portfolio Manager and a derivatives trader at TD Securities. (asset management arm of the Toronto Dominion Bank, Toronto, Canada). He was responsible for derivatives and portfolio management accounts at BMO Nesbitt Burns (investment banking division of the Bank of Montreal), by implementing volatility arbitrage and market neutral trading techniques.
After relocating back to Hong Kong from Toronto in 2000, Chin held the position of Country Head at Man Investments, the largest global hedge fund manager measured by asset under management and part of the FTSE 100. He has since focused primarily on high level joint venture negotiations with major financial/ government institutions in the distribution, allocation, structuring and private labeling of hedge funds/absolute return funds in Asia, the Middle East and North America. Chin was formerly Head of Asia, General Manager at Refco Alternative Investments, focusing on prime brokerage, due diligence, compliance, and distribution of hedge funds and fund of hedge funds sales in the Asia Pacific region.
Chin studied speech communication at the University of Minnesota, received a Bachelor of Applied Economics degree from the University of Manitoba, and an MBA from the University of Toronto. Chin founded MDE Walters Capital in 2002, a specialist strategy consulting firm and hedge fund incubation center, advising the investment banking and asset management firms on licensing and start up issues, prime brokerage comparitive studies, and advanced trading strategies. Chin is also currently a board member of a Family Office, with investment portfolios engaging in global and Asian equity Long/ Short trading strategies.

MILTON BOYD
MILTON BOYD is a Professor and Economist at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. He holds a Doctorate Degree from Purdue University (USA) and a Bachelors Degree from Seattle Pacific University. Some of his research interests include quantitative finance, risk management and derivatives, portfolio management, and international marketing research. He has traveled to over 70 countries for international activities, including teaching, research, and advising. He has written over 150 articles for business and academics, and his articles have also appeared in popular press such as Technical Analysis of stocks and Commodities, National Post, Winnipeg Free Press, Calgary Herald, Western Producer, and Grainews.
His public service interests include improving the operation and development of markets. He has served in the past as a contributing editor and columnist for Grainews where he has written a number of articles on commodity and financial markets, and he also serves as a Policy Advisor at the Frontier Center for Public Policy. At the University of Manitoba, he has served as Department Head for the Agribusiness Department, Chair of the Agribusiness Program Committee, served on the Department Graduate Committee and on numerous other committees. He has received two awards from the University of Manitoba for research and outreach, and is also a Fellow of Seattle Pacific University.

RAMON UY
Mr. Ramon Uy held various senior management roles in the finance and accounting departments of IBM Asia Pacific Region in the last 30 years. Uy was Finance Controller for IBM in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and the Philippines. He previously held the position of Manager of Financial Planning for IBM Asia Pacific Headquarters in Japan. Prior to IBM, he worked as field auditor for 5 years for clients in Taiwan.
Uy was born in the Philippines, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Accountancy from University of the East in Manila. Uy is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). As a Managing Consultant, Uy spearheads MDE's Greater China consultancy business.
